Tanaka Harumasa Vintage Kokeshi Doll – Kogarashi (10cm/3.9 inches)

This vintage creative Kokeshi doll was made and signed by master Tanaka Harumasa (1916) who was a very influential artists in the beginning of the sousaku (creative) kokeshi movement in the early 1950’s. Harumasa san used a beautiful piece of keyaki (zelkova) wood for this doll which shows in its grain and warm color. Her title is こがらし (Kogarashi) which means “Cold Wintry Wind”. She’s decorated with autumn leaves flying in the wind.

This kokeshi was originally purchased back in 1979 as inscribed on the bottom of it.

In great condition with minor signs of age and use. Comes in the original box.
