Vintage Kokeshi Doll by Shido Shozan – Peace (17cm/6.7 inches)

This vintage creative kokeshi doll was made by award winning master Shido Shozan (1932-1995). Her kimono has the Japanese character 和 (wa) which means “Peace” (another meaning is Japan). Her hair has an amusing style with a topknot in the middle of it.

Master Shido Shozan was born in Oita prefecture in 1932. He’s known for his delicate and subtle designs which emphasize the wood tone and grain. His dolls often have a simple facial features and his dolls are very popular and sought after among collectors. He has won many awards as well as the most prestigious prime minister award.

In good condition. The wax is a bit dry which gives her kimono a slightly cloudy look.
