Red Vintage Kokeshi Doll by Yamanaka Sanpei – Longing for Spring (13cm/5.1 inches)

This chubby vintage kokeshi was made and signed by master Yamanaka Sanpei (1926-2012). She’s wearing a red kimono with marvelous carved hair all around her head. Her title is “Harukoishi” (春恋し) which means “Longing for Spring”.

Yamanaka Sanpei has won over 20 awards for his kokeshi dolls including the prestigious “Prime Minister Award” in 1979. Sanpei’s inspiration for kokeshi doll designs often come from children.

In great condition with minor signs of age and use.
