This bulky kokeshi doll was made by the talented, award winning artist Oki Izumi who was born in 1956 in Shibukawa city, Gunma prefecture.

His title is さむさむ (Samusamu) which is a cute, child-like way of saying “It’s Cold”. The wooden sign that comes with it says 大寒小寒 which means “The Coldest Part of Winter” and it’s also an opening words of a children’s song. His dark blue kimono is decorated with a white dotted pattern, reminding snow flakes while the back of the kimono is decorated with traditional Japanese patterns. His hands are folded in a very cute post on top of his light blue obi (kimono belt). I especially like his brown eyes, pink cheeks and stylish hair.

In mint condition, comes in the original box with its wooden sign.
