This beautiful kokeshi is titled 花づくし (Hanazukushi) which means “Full of Flowers” and inded her kimono is full of splendidly carved and painted camellia flowers.
She was made by Miyashita Hajime (1940~) who won multiple awards for his kokeshi dolls. The current Japanese emperor and empress are fans of him and used to collect his dolls. In 2006 he retired after his kokeshi shop burnt down in a fire.
