Miyashita Hajime Vintage Kokeshi Doll – Full Blossom (26cm/10.2 inches)

This kokeshi doll was made & signed by master Miyashita Hajime (1940-). Her title is 爛漫 (Ranman) Which means “In Full Blossom”. Made of beautiful keyaki (zelkova) wood her warm wood-toned kimono is decorated with blossoming cherry flowers in orange, natural wood color and cherry flowers with kanoko (fawl-spot motiff) pattern. Her hair is also carved and painted in thin black stripes.

Miyashita Hajime is a multiple award winner master who was born in 1940. The current Japanese emperor and empress are fans of him and used to collect his dolls. In 2006 he retired after his kokeshi shop burnt down in a fire.

In great condition with signs of age and use.
