Vintage Kokeshi Doll Set by Issetsu Kuribayashi – 4 Seasons (12.5cm/4.9 inches)

Vintage 4 Seasons kokeshi doll set by Master Murakami Kenichi with each doll depicting one season:
Spring – Sakura (Cherry) blossom
Summer – Dragonfly (Tonbo)
Autumn – Falling leaves
Winter – Scarf

Master Kuribayashi Issetsu was born in Yonezawa City in Yamagata prefecture in 1926. He’s considered one of the founding fathers of creative kokeshi dolls and he has won almost every possible award for his beautiful creations. He began his career in 1955 and he is also featured in the Nuremberg Toy Museum in Germany alongside master Watanabe Masao.

In very good condition with minor signs of age and use. Comes with the original box.
