Kokeshi Doll by Shirahama Kumiko – Harenohi (27.5cm/10.8 inches)

This lovely creative kokeshi doll made and signed by Shirahama Kumiko (1952-). She’s titled 晴れの日 (Harenohi) which means “A Sunny Day”. She’s wearing a green dress with elegant decorations and a navy colored top with a ribbon on the back. She has a beautifully carved and painted hair ornament.

Shirahama Kumiko was born in Hokkaido and lives in Saitama prefecture today. She doesn’t make many dolls but those that she make are very feminine, cheerful and elegant.
