This exclusive vintage creative kokeshi doll was made by master Kazuo Takamizawa (1927~). She has a beautifully carved and rounded kimono with red and white plum flower decorations. Plum is the first flower to blossom after the winter and for that reason it’s symbolizes persistency, endurance and good luck in Japan.
Kazuo Takamizawa was born in 1927 and started making kokeshi doll in his early 20’s. At the beginning he used very little color and starting from the 70’s he began giving his creations more color. He has won the prestigious prime minister award along other prizes for his works.
