Big Vintage Floral Kokeshi Doll by Kazuo Takamizawa (39cm/15.3 inches)

This bulky and tall kokeshi doll has an elaborate kimono with beautiful floral carvings. She was made & signed by Kazuo Takamizawa.

Kazuo Takamizawa was born in 1927 and started making kokeshi doll in his early 20’s. At the beginning he used very little color and starting from the 70’s he began giving his creations more color. He has won the prestigious prime minister award along other prizes for his works.

In great condition with marks of age and use. Has some paint that dried and got peeled off the back of her hair bun.
