Kato Masami Vintage Kokeshi Doll – Camelia Child (25.5cm/10 inches)

This vintage kokeshi doll was made and signed by Master Kato Masami (1925~). Her title is 椿童 (Tsubaki Warabe) which means “Camelia Child”. She’s wearing a natural wood color kimono with 2 big camellia flowers carved on it. Her hair is also beautifully carved and she has a kind expression on her face.

Born in Naruko in Miyagi prefecture in 1925. Her husband who was a traditional kokeshi master taught her the art of kokeshi making. She has won numerous awards including the most prestigious Prime Minister Award.

In great condition with minor signs of age and use. Comes in the original box with the original wooden sign.
