This creative kokeshi doll was made and signed by Ichiko Yahagi (1952-). Her title is 咲希 (Saki) which is a play of words since it’s both a girl’s name and can mean “Hope that Blossoms”. Her kimono is blossoming with plenty of flowers in red, black, orange, yellow, and various sakura flowers in shades of pink.
Ichiko Yahagi was born in Ishikawa prefecture, Kaga city in 1952. She has won many prizes for her unique and beautiful kokeshi dolls and also taught the art of kokeshi making to active artists.
In mint condition. Comes with a black wooden base and the original box.
