This creative kokeshi doll was made and signed by Ichiko Yahagi (1952-). Her title is 沙貴 (Saki) which is a girl’s name. She’s wearing a fabulous kimono with a repeating auspicious asanoha (hemp) pattern in various colors. Her hair has an adorable ribbon in pink, blank, red, green and white. She’s standing in a lovely pose with one hand raised, a post that resembles traditional Japanese dancing.
Ichiko Yahagi was born in Ishikawa prefecture, Kaga city in 1952. She has won many prizes for her unique and beautiful kokeshi dolls and also taught the art of kokeshi making to active artists.
In mint condition. Comes with a black wooden base and the original box.
