This creative kokeshi doll was made and signed by Ichiko Yahagi (1952-). Her title is 明日香 (Asuka) which is a girl’s name. Her kimono has a traditional Japanese bundotsunagi pattern in white, yellow, red and blue. She’s wearing a contrasting green obi. Her hair is carved in different styles which gives it a very realistic look. She’s wearing 1 red hair pin and has a top bun wrapped with a hair band.
Ichiko Yahagi was born in Ishikawa prefecture, Kaga city in 1952. She has won many prizes for her unique and beautiful kokeshi dolls and also taught the art of kokeshi making to active artists.
In mint condition. Comes with a black wooden base and the original box.
