Hideo Ishihara Vintage Kokeshi Doll – Soushun (29.5cm/11.6 inches)

This vintage creative kokeshi doll was made by the award winning master Hideo Ishihara (1929-1999). She is titled 早春 (Soushun) which means “Early Spring”. Her body and head are misaligned on purpose creating a very interesting and unusual expression.

Master Hideo Ishihara (1929-1999) started as a traditional Naruko kokeshi artist. Feeling limited under the traditional design he switched to creative kokeshi and became one of the most influential and prominent artists of his time. He has won over 60 awards including the prestigious prime minister award.

In good condition with visible signs of age and use. Please inspect all the pictures.
