Hideo Ishihara Vintage Kokeshi Doll – Kurodoji (24.5cm/9.6 inches)

This vintage creative kokeshi doll was made and signed by the award winning master Hideo Ishihara (1929-1999). Her title is 黒童子 (Kurodoji) which means “Dark Child”. She’s painted in black with a glossy finish and has silver hair, eyes and abstract decoration along her bottom half.

Master Hideo Ishihara (1929-1999) started as a traditional Naruko kokeshi artist. Feeling limited under the traditional design he switched to creative kokeshi and became one of the most influential and prominent artists of his time. He has won over 60 awards including the prestigious prime minister award.

In great condition with signs of age and use.
