Fumio Tomidokoro Vintage Kokeshi Doll – End of Summer (38cm/14.9 inches)

This beautiful kokeshi doll was made & signed by Fumio Tomidokoro (1948-). She’s titled 夏の終り (Natsu no Owari) which means “The End of Summer”. Made of warm toned keyaki (zelkova) wood she’s wearing a hat with a dragonfly gently sitting on it. In Japan, dragonflies symbolize the transition from summer to autumn, they are often used in Haiku (Japanese poetry) for this reason.

In mint condition, comes with the original box.
