Fumio Tomidokoro Kokeshi Doll – Hana Akari (14cm/5.5 inches)

This bulky creative Kokeshi doll was made by Fumio Tomidokoro (1948-). Her title is 花明り (Hana Akari) which means “Flowers Light”. In Japanese culture, it relates to the sight of sakura blossom glowing softly at night during festivals or illuminated by lanterns. Her kimono is beautifully carved and decorated with various flowers and traditional patterns, one being kanoko pattern as well as sakura flowers.

In mint condition. Comes in the original box.
