Vintage creative kokeshi titled “kiku” (Chrysanthemum) by the two-times Prime minster award winner master Kuribayashi Issetsu (1926-2011).
Master Kuribayashi Issetsu was born in Yonezawa City in Yamagata prefecture in 1926. He’s considered one of the founding fathers of creative kokeshi dolls and he has won almost every possible award for his beautiful creations. He began his career in 1955 and he is also featured in the Nuremberg Toy Museum in Germany alongside master Watanabe Masao.
In good condition with signs of age and use (3 marks along the hair).
