Vintage Kokeshi Doll Set by Daisuke Takeda – Shochikubai (13cm/5.1 inches)

This set of 3 vintage kokeshi dolls was made by Daisuke Takeda. It depicts an auspicious term 松竹梅 (Shochikubai) which means Pine (sho 松) Bamboo (chiku 竹) and Plum (bai 梅).
Pine is considered to be auspicious since it’s an evergreen tree and it symbolized longevity.
Bamboo grows very fast and has strong roots so it symbolizes sturdiness, and plum flowers blossoms at the end of winter when it’s still relatively cold hence it symbolizes vitality.
