Aoki Ryoka Vintage Kokeshi Doll (18cm/7 inches)

This vintage creative kokeshi doll was made & signed by the multiple award winning female master Aoki Ryoka (1931-). Made of keyaki wood, she features two large red camellia flowers on her kimono sleeves and a beautifully carved hair on the back.

Aoki Ryoka was born in 1931 in Shikishima village, Gunma prefecture. She has won multiple awards for her beautiful kokeshi dolls including the prestigious prime minister award. She also received the Japanese Yellow Ribbon Medal of Honor for her diligence, perseverance and achieving excellence in her craft.
