Vintage Yamanaka Sanpei Pigtails Kokeshi Doll (24cm/9.4 inches)

This kokeshi doll was made and signed by master Yamanaka Sanpei (1926-2012) who won over 20 awards for his kokeshi dolls including the prestigious “Prime Minister Award” in 1979. Sanpei’s inspiration for kokeshi doll designs often come from children.

This doll features a cute set of pigtails and a child-like eyes gazing in wonder.

In good condition with signs of age and use, a small minor mark of dried wax on top of the head.
