Hideo Ishihara Vintage Kokeshi Doll – Reminiscence (26cm/10.2 inches)

This playful and quirky vintage creative kokeshi doll was made and signed by the award winning master Hideo Ishihara (1929-1999). Her title is 追憶 (Tsuioku) which is means “Reminiscence” (or “Recollection”). It’s hard to say for sure why Ishihara san chose this title, but it looks like a child trying to recollect something, with her head tilted to the side and the hand pointing up close to the head.

Master Hideo Ishihara (1929-1999) started as a traditional Naruko kokeshi artist. Feeling limited under the traditional design he switched to creative kokeshi and became one of the most influential and prominent artists of his time. He has won over 60 awards including the prestigious prime minister award.

In great condition with minor signs of age and use. Comes in the original box
