Shido Shozan Vintage Kokeshi with a Scarf (28.5cm/11.2 inches)

This cute kokeshi doll was made and signed by the award winning master Shido Shozan (1932-1995). She’s wearing a simple scarf over a red sweater. Her scarf turns from painting to wood around her neck which is a lovely touch by Shozan san.

Master Shido Shozan was born in Oita prefecture in 1932. He’s known for his delicate and subtle designs which emphasize the wood tone and grain. His dolls often have a simple facial features and his dolls are very popular and sought after among collectors. He has won many awards as well as the most prestigious prime minister award.

In good condition with marks of age and use. The signature is faded.
