This adorable kokeshi doll was made & signed by the award winning artist Yuko Yamazaki (1956-). Her title is 紅椿 (Beni Tsubaki) which means “Red Camellia”.

As her title implies, her kimono is decorated with beautifully paitned red camellia flowers and green leaves. She also has a veil which reveals a lovely nature scene on the back along a kanoko pattern (fawn spots motif).

Yuko Yamazaki was born in 1956 and learned the art of kokeshi dolls from master Yoshida Takashi. She has won many prizes for her unique and beautiful kokeshi dolls and also taught the art of kokeshi making to active artists.

In mint condition. Comes with the original box.
