Shido Shozan Vintage Kokeshi Doll (18cm/7 inches)

This exclusive kokeshi doll was made by the award winning master Shido Shozan (1932-1995). Made of beautiful enju wood she has the front half of her hair carved and the back is smooth. She also has a top knot on her hair which is also carved.

Master Shido Shozan was born in Oita prefecture in 1932. He’s known for his delicate and subtle designs which emphasize the wood tone and grain. His dolls often have a simple facial features and his dolls are very popular and sought after among collectors. He has won many awards as well as the most prestigious prime minister award.
