Kenichi Murakami Vintage Kokeshi Doll (15cm/5.9 inches)

This vintage kokeshi doll was made & signed by Kenichi Murakami (1929 – 1991). This lovely doll is made of enju wood (Japanese pagoda tree) which is known for is strength and beautiful dark brown wood grain. She depicts a winter theme of a child covered in a warm blanket or shawl.

Born in 1929 Kenichi san started studying oil painting in his early teenager years but towards the mid 40’s he started creating kokeshi. His dolls are known to have very minimal design with an emphasize on the natural wood color and grain.

In very good condition with minor signs of age and use.
