This creative Kokeshi doll was made by Fumio Tomidokoro (1948-). Her title is 夕暮のふるさと (Yugure no furusato) which mean “Hometown Dusk”. Furusato is a term in Japanese that refers to our hometown, often to the place we grew up in with a sense of nostalgia. Tomidokoro san painted a countryside dusk scenery on the body of this kokeshi doll with a blooming tree, mountains in the horizon and birds flying above.
In near-mint condition. Comes in the original box.
