Miyashita Hajime Vintage Kokeshi Doll – Hana Otome (16.5cm/6.5 inches)

Vintage creative kokeshi doll by master Miyashita Hajime (1940-). Her title is 花乙女(Hana Otome) Which means “Flower Girl”. This design elegantly combined her hair as part of the body as it flows down along her neck. Her hair is also decorated with a red ribbon and two cute flowers. Her kimono is dark green and features simple red flowers that also match her red haneri (kimono collar).

Miyashita Hajime is a multiple award winner master who was born in 1940. The current Japanese emperor and empress are fans of him and used to collect his dolls. In 2006 he retired after his kokeshi shop burnt down in a fire.
