This lovely kokeshi doll was made by the talented, award winning Oki Yasunobu (1955~) who was born in Fukutsu city, Fukuoka prefecture. In 2014 He won the prestigious Prime Minister Award in the Gunma Prefecture Modern Kokeshi Contest.
This doll is titled 初春 (Shoshun) which means “Early Spring”. Her kimono shows beautifully arranged red plum flowers. In Japan plum symbolizes the end of winter and beginning of Spring, it also symbolizes resilience and endurance since it can flower through the cold weather.
In great condition. Comes in the original box with the wooden sign.
